Our Story

Airzon fans are based on Brushless DC technology. These fans are 100% made in India by Canfan Private Limited.
Airzon fans are a result of our true commitment to Make In India initiative, with in-house innovation in motor and electronic design and development.

We have a very active and vibrant supplier ecosystem in India to support our efforts. Today, Canfan manufacturers industrial air circulator fans, exhaust fans, transformer coolings fans and also exports its ceiling fans to Europe and USA.

Our strong background and experience in innovation and manufacturing comes with the support of our parent company, On Load Gears – manufacturer of On Load Tap changers with 50% market share in the country.

OLG has been in existence for the past 40 years, supplying to Fortune 500 companies. This has resulted in a very lean and high quality organisation in Canfan, with promoters S.V.Gopalen and Ram C. Sekar hands on, driving product development.

Over 24 years of work experience across a wide range of functions in India and abroad with Tata Steel, ICICI Limited, Covanta Energy (IPP developer) and McKinsey & Company

B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur, MBA from the Asian Institute of Management, and a dual master in Mechanical Engineering and Technology & Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Our journey

In 2013, Ram C. Sekar and S.V. Gopalen embarked on a mission to bring solar power to rural India, where access to electricity was scarce. They co-founded Sun Ergs LLP with a clear focus on providing sustainable energy solutions to uplift communities. However, their journey took an unexpected turn as they discovered an opportunity to revolutionize an essential household appliance – the ceiling fan.

While innovating approaches to make solar power more energy-efficient and cost-effective, Sekar and Gopalen realized that traditional ceiling fans

  • Consumed a significant amount of energy in most homes
  • In hot areas, the fans operated for long periods, adding to the energy burden
  • Traditional fans performed poorly when the voltage was low, exacerbating the issue
The duo set out to create a solution that addressed the energy inefficiency of traditional fans and offered significant savings to consumers. With a strong vision in mind, they developed a high-efficiency ceiling fan under the brand name Airzon.
Through relentless innovation in motor and electronic design and development, Canfan introduced Airzon fans based on Brushless DC (BLDC) technology. These fans not only consumed significantly less energy but also delivered an impressive 55% energy saving compared to traditional fans. Airzon fans quickly gained recognition for their outstanding performance and energy efficiency.
Meeting Quality Standards and Consumer Demand Canfan’s commitment to engineering excellence was demonstrated through Airzon fans meeting the requirements of of all important standards such as Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). These certifications validated the fan’s superior quality and efficiency. Consumers warmly embraced Airzon fans, appreciating the substantial savings on their electricity bills and the positive environmental impact.
The hands-on approach of promoters S.V. Gopalen and Ram C. Sekar played a pivotal role in Canfan’s success. Their deep knowledge and leadership propelled Canfan to create cutting-edge solutions, continuously pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency. Under their guidance, Canfan became a lean and high-quality organization, prioritizing product development and customer satisfaction.
